People don’t usually associate sharks with having a happy holiday… most people are scared of them because of the constant sensationalist news items about people getting killed. In fact the number of fatalities per year are less then 10 - worldwide. But did you know that an estimated 40 million sharks are killed every year? And that most of them are killed only for their fins? Yes, the rest of the shark is usually thrown back into the sea, sometimes still living, where they starve to death or drown. The fins are used for the Chinese delicacy of shark fin soup, which is becoming more and more popular as the Chinese middle class grows in size. Well if you want to have a truly exilirating holiday with a diving company that cares about shark and marine conservation you should check out Shark Diving International. They were founded in 1998 and have become the biggest shark diving operation in the USA.

Of the Andalusian rural bed and breakfast and self-catering accommodation that I have listed recently on Spanish Treasures, my favourite place has got to be the Huerta Tropical, owned by Werner and Riitta Geiser. The owners just look so happy in this picture, it just makes you want to go there and visit them for a few days, just hang out, have a few beers and swim in the pool!

The Huerta Tropical has 4 spacious guest rooms, all tastefully individually decorated and with en-suite bathrooms. Self-service snacks and drinks are available 24-7, and Werner and Riitta also apparently do some pretty tasty paella when prompted, the pool is pretty big, there are plenty of grounds to wander around in, so you could easily find yourself spending your entire holiday without even leaving the finca!
